Fans of drag racing have one of the top strips in Ohio right here in Knox County at Pacemakers Dragway Park, 8926 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon. The 1/8th mile track is an NHRA sanctioned dragstrip and brings in racers from all over Ohio to its 60-plus year old park. The all-concrete track has a TSI Timing System, a concrete barriers with fencing in the shutdown and is open between April and November. Pacemakers has races for drivers of all ages and abilities, from Power Wheels racing for the kids to Super Pro and Pro Class. During the summer months, there is racing on Fridays, beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday is a full day of racing, beginning with qualifying shots at 10 a.m. on days there are junior races. Others, racing begins at 2 p.m. and runs throughout the evening. The spectator area has bleachers for 1,000 visitors and a standing room only area that can fit in many more. The Eighth-Mile Eatery will fill you up between races, offering hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, fries and drinks of all kinds
