Brown Bag Chat: Never a Dull Moment-60 Years of Fearless Photography with George Breithaupt (Wed. 30 Mar, 2016 12:00 pm)

At age six, George Breithaupt picked up his first camera and captured his own view of the world. And for the next 60 years, he has continued to share his vision and talent by capturing the uniqueness of the world around him on film—whether found in the hustle and bustle of New York City or the fields and steeples of Knox County. His journey has taken him from processing film in his darkroom to checking out the latest computer techniques to make a beautiful photo into something just like himself—unique and ‘fearless.’

On Wednesday, March 30, noon, he will be the featured speaker at “Never a Dull Moment: 60 Years of Fearless Photography with George Breithaupt” for a Brown Bag Chat at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, 201 N. Mulberry Street.

From collecting hundreds of cameras, to collecting hundreds of stories from “behind the scenes” in his work as a photojournalist for the Mount Vernon News, or his hilarious and insightful writings as “The Grumpy Bachelor,” Breithaupt is truly one-of-a-kind. A long-time community advocate for those battling diabetes, he did not let the recent loss of his legs to the disease take away his zest for life or affect his talent for grabbing a camera and capturing that next great shot.

Join in the fun as he shares tales from the past, happenings from the present, and his plans for the future, as his artistry continues to inspire others to follow their passion no matter what life throws your way. Even if life leads down a different path—with scooter wheels—the view is still unique, only the perspective is different.

The program is free and open to the public of all ages.  Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch. Refreshments provided. For more information, call the main library at 740-392-BOOK (2665) Ext. 243, visit www.knox.net or email communityrelations@knox.net.
