Date: Wednesday, November 16, 2016 12:00 pm

The inspirational international best-selling documentary, “He Named Me Malala” will be featured at the final Brown Bag Chat for the fall season on Wednesday, November 16, noon, at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, 201 N. Mulberry Street.

The inspirational film provides an intimate portrait of Malala Yousafzai, a young teenage girl who was wounded when the gunmen opened fire on her in the Pakistan's Swat Valley for daring to go to school.

Only fifteen years old at the time, the shooting, and her will to survive, sparked international media outrage. An educational activist in Pakistan, Yousafzai has since emerged as a leading champion of the rights of children worldwide to seek an education and in December 2014, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate for her bravery, determination and spirit.

The film is rated PG-13 and runs 88 minutes. Participants can stay for as much of the documentary as possible. Bring a brown bag chat or refreshments served.
