Business After Hours with PLMVKC to celebrate 100 Year Anniversary of Knox Co Chamber of Commerce with free party

The Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County will host Business After Hours: "A Celebration of 100 Years of the Knox County Chamber of Commerce" on Tuesday, August 23, starting at 5:00 p.m., at 201 N. Mulberry Street.

Plans are to celebrate the history of the influence of the chamber of commerce on the film industry throughout history and will feature a continuous free showing of the newly released short film, "Uncommon Brilliance: Then and Now" featuring 200 years of business and economic history of Knox County.

The program, provided with support by the Friends of the Library, will be held outside under shade tents at the new Sugar Street parking lot at the main library.  Decorations, root beer floats, brown and purple cow ice cream floats, popcorn and refreshments will add to the vintage patriotic tone of the event. The program will also toast chamber contributors to the newly created outdoor space at the main library and its use for future library and community events.

The program is free and open to Chamber members and the public. For more information, call Linette Porter-Metler, PLMVKC Community Relations, 740-392-BOOK (2665) Ext. 243, visit or email [email protected].
