Silver Screeners Free Movie Matinee "What About Bob?" (PG)

Date: Sunday, May 15, 2016 1:30 pm

The thought-provoking comedy “What About Bob?” (PG) will be featured at the free Silver Screeners Movie Matinee on Sunday, May 15, 1:30 p.m. at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, 201 N. Mulberry Street.

Dodie Melvin, executive director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)-Knox & Licking Counties, will be guest host in commemoration of May Mental Health Awareness Month. One out of every five Americans will be affected by a mental health issue.

In the 1991 film, Bill Murray introduces us to the phobia-prone Bob Wiley, diagnosed with “multi-phobic personality characterized by acute separation anxiety and extreme need for family connections.” Bob follows his therapist, Dr. Leo Marvin (Richard Dreyfuss), on vacation to Marvin’s lakefront home in Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire (actually filmed at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia). Bob gets along splendidly with Marvin’s wife and kids but clashes with Marvin, and hijinks ensue. The movie grossed more than $63 million at the box office and became one of Murray’s most popular movies.

The program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
