Brown Bag Chat: Kenyon College Presents Faces of America Film Series: People Like Us-Social Class in America

Date: Wednesday, April 20, 2016 12:00 pm

Social class. It’s the 800-pound gorilla in the room that most Americans don’t think about. How does income, family background, education, attitudes, aspirations, and even appearance mark someone as a member of a particular class? As part of the Faces of America film series, the Kenyon College Office of Diversity, Equity and inclusion and the Diversity Coalition of Knox County will present “People Like Us – Social Class in America” viewing and discussion on Wednesday, April 20, noon for a Brown Bag Chat and again at 4:00 p.m. at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, 201 N. Mulberry Street.

In this documentary film, people from all walks of life—from Park Avenue penthouses, to Appalachian trailers to bayou houseboats--tell tales that will resonate with viewers regardless of where they see themselves on the social spectrum in this thought-provoking film.

The program is free and open to the public of all ages. Refreshments will be served. For more information call the main library at 740-392-BOOK (2665) Ext. 243, visit www.knox.net or email [email protected].
